This one may take the cake due to the fact they went to the effort of cartooning their disgust as opposed to just writing about it.

There's only one reason you make a video like this: attention. In the year 2009, this usualy means attention from bloggers who are so BLOWN AWAY by your vid they'll want to tell all their friends/followers/listeners about your crazy concept.

Well. I'll bite.

I'm still going through a bit of a trance hangover from last weeks 72 hour marathon that was Armin Van Buuren's ASOT 400. in celebration of the 400th episode of his radio program, A State Of Trance. 

As such, right now Find Yourself (a definate highlight from the show) is spinning through my head.

"Tune of The Week" gets a re-band to Song Of The Moment", but more importantly, lets get down to it...

I've never been a fan of Franz Ferdinand. Don't know what it is. I just haven't. But their new song, Ulysses is absolutely fantastic and the video makes it even better.

Really getting into Death In Vegas right now, although a bit late to that party. Either way, they are a cool mix of rock & electronica. This tune is probably my favorite and that has a lot to do with Oasis frontman Liam manning the vocals. There is a little intro of them making the song in the studio. I don't know much about singing, but apparentely it involves a lot of yelling. 

Aggregated Facebook data about the favorite bands and books among students of various colleges and plotted them against the average SAT scores at those schools, creating a tongue-in-cheek statistical look at taste and intelligence... All in all proves the dumbest people listen to Lil Wayne.

When two great artists get together, good things usually happen. Digging these one/two's right now. You may recognize the pre-big-fame Feist song from the Lacoste Essential commercials. These versions are from Feist's remix album "Open Season"

I have 2 standards I live by here on Unravel:

Today we have the latter with Metric's new one, Gimme Sympathy. While its no Feist, it does take an interesting turn. Also, Metric is no big label band so you've gotta represent the creative drive.

With a special double header tune-o-the-week here is the new one from Silversun.

In the fall Trance-trio Above & Beyond asked their fans to make them a music video for great new release "Oceanlab- On A Good Day". Last week they released the winning video in its entirety, a compelation of all the videos people had submited, and a video of them presenting/thanking those who had submitted the best videos. 

This is a fantastic example of Crowdsourcing.

Did they get the best music video ever made? No. Not by a long shot.

But...

Did they connect with their fans and alow them to participate in the music? Yep.

Did they they save a pile of money? Yep.

Do the people who got to appear in one of their favorite artist's vidoes feel pretty awsome about life? Yep.

So whats the point? Well croudsourcing is something ALL marketers should be intimatly framilar with. Aside from the saving money part its a great way to get publicity and hear from the people that matter most- your followers/customers/tribe. 

Since media went social there is no excuse not to allow people to participate in the proccess. Where should you hold an event? What color should the product be? What should our logo look like? What should the first single be? 

At the end of the day you are owned by your customers/fans no matter if you are the Yankees or Wal-Mart so maybe take the time to listen...
